i saved you a seat :)

Folding chairs aren't fancy. They're the extra seat, the "we'll make room" seat, pulled out for whoever strolls in. That act of offering a warm welcome to an unexpected guest is something I wanted to celebrate. I covered one of my own folding chairs kept as an extra seat in found materials and let it get colorful and messy to celebrate the idea of making space, about the moment someone shows up and you just grab another chair, scoot down and and make room. The world needs more of this bright, chaotic, quintessentially human connection. This is the first in a series of extra seats I am working on- the others are in various stages of completion in my studio.

I’m pleased to share that this first seat will be included in an upcoming exhibit reharvest repair at the Boghossian Gallery, Providence Public Library. Opening: Saturday, October 17th, 12 PM - 3 PM

There is also an opening that day at Hera Gallery, so I hope you’ll make a point to attend one or both of these cool events!
